Love to sing? newchoir brings together auditioned adult singers from across the Greater Toronto Area to perform unforgettable rock and pop music backed by a live band. Whether you're an experienced choral singer or a confident vocalist looking for a new challenge, we'd love to meet you.

Is newchoir right for you?

newchoir is an auditioned choir in Toronto, Ontario. We're looking for singers who can confidently hold a harmony part, enjoy performing, and are committed to regular rehearsals and concerts. While formal vocal training and music-reading skills are an asset, many members make excellent use of our rehearsal resources to prepare.

You should also be able to perform consistently with energy and presence as we have a large audience base and concerts can last upwards of two hours or more.

Vocal assessments

Your vocal assessment is an opportunity for us to get to know your voice and determine the section where you'll be most successful. We encourage you to come prepared and choose a song that lets you sing with confidence.


What to prepare:

  • - A verse and chorus of a rock or pop song
  • - A cappella or with accompaniment
What to expect:
  • - A 10-minute Zoom assessment with the Artistic Director
  • - A range test and/or a few vocal exercises
  • - Placement into the voice section that best suits you
After your assessment:
  • - Within a few days, you'll be notified of the results of your vocal assessment
  • - Successful singers will receive information on how to complete your newchoir membership account, pay your fees, and get ready for the season ahead!

Refund policy

New members: Those who have completed a successful assessment and have paid their membership dues invoice have a three-week grace period upon starting rehearsals to withdraw from the season (or half season, if applicable) and receive a full refund. Thereafter, requests for full or partial refunds will only be considered under exceptional circumstances (illness, work relocation, etc.) as determined by newchoir’s Executive Committee upon written submission.
