Thanks for your interest in joining newchoir! There are no further vocal assessments scheduled for the 2024/25 season, however if you still wish to be considered please email newchoirofficial@gmail.com and we will be happy to schedule an assessment as-needed.

To sing in newchoir, you should have a working knowledge of music and be able to hold your own vocally when singing in harmony with others. You should also be able to perform consistently with energy and presence as we have a large audience base and concerts can last upwards of two hours or more. We do provide various rehearsal aids for members, but formal training and the ability to read music is an asset.

Membership Dues: $595 (2024/25)
Financial support is available for qualifying members through the generous support of the Natalie Kuz Memorial Fund, as well as for the newchoir fellowship program. Learn about these programs.

Rehearsals: Mondays 7:30-9:30pm at Church of the Redeemer (162 Bloor St. W) and occasional Sunday afternoons

Performances: 1-2 concerts with full band, plus additional performance opportunities TBD throughout the year

Repertoire: Various pop and rock arrangements spanning decades and styles with a focus on Canadian content

New Members: Vocal assessments for our 2024/25 season are being held until the end of August. Please keep checking back as spots become available throughout the summer!

Vocal Assessments: Assessments are currently held with our Artistic Director, Scott Pietrangelo, over Zoom in ten-minutes time slots. Please prepare a verse and chorus of a rock or pop song to sing for us. It can be performed a cappella or to accompaniment, whatever works best for you. You may be asked to do a range test and/or a few vocal exercises to determine your appropriate section.

Please note that this is your "audition" to be considered for placement in newchoir, so make sure you are ready to show us your best performance!
